Make a Bubba Run

We created a 30 second TVC spot, “Make a Bubba Run” to promote DoorDash New Verticals categories—convenience, grocery, and pet food. Starring NASCAR race icon Bubba Wallace and directed by The Perlorian Brothers, the spot centers around an ‘A-Team’-esque group of convenience store items who are called to attention and race to Bubba Wallace’s door after being ordered on DoorDash. Each item represents a different new vertical category of item that can be ordered on the platform.

Art Direction

I was inspired by Blur’s Coffee and TV music video, The Muppets, and the web series Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared to build the world using a hand-crafted art direction and puppetry. The set was built on-location, and each of the characters was individually hand puppeteered. Subtle animation was added in post-production to add facial expressions and mouth movement. We also managed to license the king of yodelling Franzl Lang’s “Auf und auf voll Lebenslust” track for the spot.
